Senior Content Strategist

About the role

SoFi is seeking a strategic leader to own and evolve our educational content program, focusing on financial news literacy and newsletters. This role involves defining the strategic vision, building a compelling business case, executing subscriber growth strategies, and leveraging audience insights to ensure relevance.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the strategic vision for SoFi's newsletter program, balancing audience value with business impact.
• Create and maintain a business case for the newsletter program, presenting it with authority to senior stakeholders.
• Develop and execute a subscriber growth strategy across organic, paid media, social, lifecycle marketing, and content syndication.
• Use audience insights and performance data to ensure the newsletter consistently delivers relevance, iterating on content strategy as needed.
• Identify opportunities to expand the newsletter portfolio with new content products, integrating AI for efficiency.
• Manage implementation, reporting, and iteration with vendors, technology partners, and core newsletter teams.
• Build strong relationships with product marketing, editorial, brand strategy, social, data science, lifecycle marketing, product, and design teams.
• Identify opportunities to integrate SoFi products into newsletters, position products in educational contexts, and guide creative efforts.
• Collaborate with external vendors to grow subscriber audiences and integrate AI for content production.
• Oversee the newsletter program's operations, establish a governance framework, and implement a structured A/B testing framework.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in content strategy, brand journalism, or content marketing.
• Proven track record of subscriber growth and audience development, with hands-on experience in paid media and social.
• Data-literate, able to define KPIs, partner with analytics, and translate findings into strategic decisions.
• Natural cross-functional operator with the ability to lead through influence and adapt to unfamiliar territories.
• Experience with fintech, personal finance, investing, or a similar complex category where audience trust and content credibility are crucial.
• A Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) with 6+ years of experience considered.

Qualifications

• Strategic thinker and confident communicator with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling documents and decks.
• Data-driven decision-maker with experience interpreting performance dashboards and translating findings into strategic actions.
• Ability to form a point of view quickly and confidently in ambiguous situations.
