Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain modeling and simulation software applications.
- Implement algorithms representing physical systems, operational processes, and mission scenarios.
- Develop scalable and maintainable software architectures.
- Perform code reviews and ensure compliance with software engineering standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
- Modeling & Simulation Engineering
- Develop mathematical, statistical, and physics-based models.
- Build constructive, virtual, and live simulation environments.
- Validate models against operational data and system requirements.
- Analyze simulation results and recommend improvements.
- Support scenario development and experimentation activities.
- Systems Integration
- Integrate simulation systems with external applications, databases, sensors, and command-and-control systems.
- Develop APIs and middleware components.
- Support distributed simulation architectures.
- Ensure interoperability with existing simulation frameworks and standards.
- Verification & Validation (V&V)
- Develop test plans and validation methodologies.
- Carry out unit, integration, performance, and acceptance testing.
- Verify simulation accuracy and model fidelity.
- Document test results and corrective actions.
- Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance to software and simulation teams.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical planning.
- Support proposal development and technical solution design.
- Research & Innovation
- Evaluate emerging technologies and simulation methodologies.
- Recommend improvements to modeling approaches and software architectures.
- Support research and development initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
- 5–10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience developing modeling and simulation applications.
- Strong programming skills in one or more of:C++JavaPythonC#
- Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field.
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, research, or government programs.
- Knowledge of simulation frameworks and standards.
- Experience with distributed simulation environments.
- Programming Languages: C++, Python, Java, C#, MATLAB
- Modeling & Simulation: Discrete Event Simulation, Agent-Based Modeling, Monte Carlo Simulation, Digital Twin Technologies, Physics-Based Modeling, Statistical Analysis
- Simulation Standards: High Level Architecture (HLA), Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA)
- Software Tools: Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Visual Studio, Eclipse
- Data & Analytics: SQL Databases, Data Visualization, Machine Learning, Integration, Data Modeling
