Software Engineer–Simulation (Experienced or Senior)
About the role
The Boeing Company is seeking Software Engineers–Simulation to support the Simulation Integration and Delivery (SID) team in Berkeley, Missouri. This team provides simulation software across Boeing’s commercial, defense, and internal programs, working closely with stakeholders to deliver hardware and software that support Boeing’s customers. The role involves developing simulation tools for software and hardware verification, participating in Agile methodologies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop simulation models, visualizations, virtual environments, and frameworks to enhance test performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems.
- Partner with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and system dynamics.
- Perform design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize system performance.
- Collect and process data for use in simulations.
- Validate, verify, and refine simulation software, models, and test procedures against real-world data or benchmarks.
- Document and maintain technical code, algorithms, specifications, and descriptions of simulation models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks in the simulation environment.
- Modernize, migrate, sustain, and update legacy simulation software to adapt to new operating systems.
- Perform project management functions for simulation software initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, computer science, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance (Interim pre-start and final post-start) and Special Program Access (U.S. citizenship required).
- 4+ years of experience in software programming with C, C++, C#, .NET, including debugging and development.
- 4+ years of experience with the Software/Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field and 9+ years of related work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience, or 17+ years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in software programming with Python or Rust.
- Active Security Clearance.
- Experience with embedded software and hardware interfacing.
- Experience working across software-interface boundaries (hardware, firmware, software) and coordinating with interfacing teams.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with minimal requirements definition.
- Experience with software development in Visual Studio.
- Experience with avionics and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Experience with Agile Methodology, Git, Continuous Integration, and Cloud Computing technologies.
Pay
Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
- Experienced Level (Level 3): $126,650–$171,350
- Senior Level (Level 4): $160,650–$217,350
