About the role
Join us as a Senior Complex Claims Director to play your part in transforming the way we help customers manage risk. Handle some of the largest and most complex Casualty claims in the industry, leveraging your deep technical claims expertise to investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, and disposition of new and existing 3rd party property and casualty claims
- Review coverage under Excess Commercial General Liability and auto policies
- Participate in the investigation of the claim
- Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials, assess liability and damages, and recommend reserves
- Present large value cases to senior management
- Communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants with excellent customer service skills
- Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy
- Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary
- Evaluate, budget, and strategize litigation of each claim
- Establish clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel to maintain financial control of budget and expenses
Requirements
- 8+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience preferred
- Excellent communication ability (verbal/written) and strong negotiation skills
- Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
- Experience attending and controlling claims - pre-suit, litigated and post-trial - at mediations, settlement conferences, etc.
- Property and Casualty adjusting licenses required and must be obtained within 6 months
- J.D. helpful but not required

Skills
- Commercial/Industry claims experience
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Litigation claims management including ADR and mediation process
- Experience with claims management, including pre-suit, litigated, and post-trial processes
- Ability to communicate with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and claimants
- Ability to document evaluations, thought processes, and strategies
- Ability to utilize Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
- Ability to budget and strategize litigation of claims
- Ability to establish clear ground rules with defense and coverage counsel
Benefits
- Base salary range: $120,000-$150,000 for positions based in Illinois
- Base salary range: $122,000-$150,000 for positions based in Massachusetts
- Base salary range: $122,000-$150,000 for positions based in New Jersey

Schedule
- AIG operates with a hybrid model, requiring team members to be primarily in the office to foster in-person collaboration.
