Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor CNC machining team members; plan, assign, and monitor daily workloads.
  • Set up, program, calibrate, and operate CNC turning and milling centers; optimize cycle times and part quality.
  • Interpret and apply GD&T per engineering drawings; verify tolerances and document inspection results.
  • Collaborate with design, process, and quality teams to translate CAD models into manufacturable parts.
  • Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software; support fixture design and tooling selection.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives: standard work, 5S, continuous improvement, and waste reduction.
  • Lead root cause analysis for dimensional issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Mentor junior machinists on best practices, safety standards, and machine maintenance.
  • Assist in qualification of new equipment, tooling, and CAM workflows; participate in capital equipment justifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree or certificate from a community college or technical school (2-year programs) in CNC technology, manufacturing technology, or precision machining (preferred).
  • 8+ years of CNC machining experience (turning and milling), with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • 1–3 years of experience interpreting and applying GD&T on engineering drawings.
  • 1–3 years of experience setting up CNC turning and milling machines (setup, offsets, zeroing, probes/tools).
  • 5+ years of hands-on CAD/CAM software experience.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with a Lean mindset.
