About the role
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team. This individual will support our growing civil engineering practice within our mining, industrial, energy infrastructure, transportation, and buildings practices.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage the technical aspects for civil or geotechnical engineering tasks including permitting, design, and construction of tailings basins, landfills, and CCR facilities; geotechnical instrumentation; geotechnical investigations and design; and civil site design projects
- Support the development of new and existing clients and markets while cross-selling GEI’s other core business areas (e.g., permitting, water resources, ecological services, and engineering) to support the growth of GEI’s Minnesota offices
- Lead proposal teams and presentations
- Lead and participate on multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams
- Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
- Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring
- Assist in recruiting and training additional staff
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of B.S. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field. M.S. preferred
- Professional Engineer, or path to PE license, is required
- 5-15 years of previous professional experience in civil or geotechnical engineering; Project Management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting; knowledge of state and federal regulations; proven business development skills
- Seller-doer with strong regional connections and an entrepreneurial spirit
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
