Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

The Southeast division of Ayres is seeking a senior civil engineer with experience in water/wastewater utility projects for city/county/local governments. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset to grow the municipal engineering practice in Florida and contribute to the national practice.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue marketing opportunities to win projects from city, county, and municipal governments.
• Lead project management, oversee design and production of plans and specifications, and ensure timely, profitable, and compliant project completion.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with project managers and other company leaders.
• Mentor and support staff development.
• Engage in professional organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered professional engineer (PE) in Florida.
• 8+ years of experience in water/wastewater utility design and construction.
• Ability to manage small to medium size projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. MicroStation experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Experience in business development, focusing on identifying, pursuing, and winning projects.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Qualifications

• Experience in utility design, water/wastewater collection systems, and utility relocation projects.
• Experience in conflict resolution, utility agreements, permitting, and utility construction management.

Skills and experiences

• Familiarity with clients in the Tampa Bay Area.
• Comfort with projects related to utility relocation in roadway construction.
• Familiarity with FDOT standards.
