About the role
The Engineering Services Department consists of three sections: Project Management/Project Delivery, Land Development, and Transportation. It comprises a total of twenty-four staff members, including assistant engineers, associate engineers, and a principal engineer.
Responsibilities
- Bring a high level of technical expertise to assist Associate and Assistant Engineers through complex capital projects.
- Manage the Capital Management Section, responsible for the preparation and implementation of the City’s Major Projects Program (MPP).
- Coordinate projects and grant applications to ensure the goals of the City are met.
- Prepare and deliver reports to various policy-making bodies and committees, including City Council.
- Work with other departments, neighboring jurisdictions, and regional agencies to coordinate projects and grant applications.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and four years of progressively responsible professional experience, including experience in directing the work of others involved in engineering project activities.
- A total of eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in Civil Engineering, including experience in directing the work of others involved in engineering project activities may substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and practices; project development, design, and construction; techniques for reviewing designs, plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and recommendations; current trends and developments, literature, and sources of information regarding municipal engineering; related laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to plan and coordinate professional and sub-professional engineering work; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and policies; prepare and present reports; perform complex professional engineering work; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Qualifications
- Possession of a certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
- Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Pay
Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually.
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
