SENIOR BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST

About the role

The Clark County Information Technology Department is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join the Digital Services division. This role involves leading innovative enterprise-level technology projects, fostering stronger departmental relationships, and aligning impactful technology initiatives. The position is part of a solution-oriented team focused on adaptive problem-solving, project management, and strong communication.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list for current and/or future vacancies over the next six months, which may be extended by Human Resources. Only the most qualified applicants may be called for the selection process. Some positions may be confidential or non-union.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Four (4) years of full-time professional experience in systems analysis and project leadership in a large multi-processing environment.
• Industry-recognized certificates may substitute for up to two (2) years of education and/or experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Professional experience may substitute for up to two (2) years of education on a year-for-year basis.
• All qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the application; resumes cannot substitute for detailed application responses.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorship.

Working Conditions

• Ability to work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations.
• Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and remain seated for extended periods.

Licensing and Certification

• Specified positions may require a valid Nevada Class C driver’s license at the time of appointment.

Background Investigation

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodic background investigations may be conducted after employment.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing

Responsibilities

• Provide project management skills in planning, scheduling, managing, and reporting; lead, train, and review work for a programming project team.
• Organize and assign work, set priorities, and ensure coordination and completion of projects.
• Gather and analyze information regarding customer systems and requirements for automated systems; conduct feasibility studies.
• Present information in formal settings using professional organization, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Conduct requirements analysis, cost/benefit analysis, develop schedules and project plans, and follow a formal systems development methodology.
• Work in a matrix management environment with reporting responsibilities to customers and assigned departments.
• Provide self-direction with minimal supervision; contribute to team efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and participating actively.
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop system, time, equipment, and cost requirements.
• Resolve project and customer conflicts by finding common ground and compromising.
• Confer with customer department staff regarding assigned functional program areas.
• Maintain records and prepare periodic and special reports of work performed.
• Use standard office equipment; may drive a personal or County vehicle to work sites and off-site meetings.
• Maintain current knowledge of technology and new computer customer applications.
