About the role

Utilizes data analytics and contributes to a set of business initiatives designed to help business partners extract value from information. Develops data visualizations for analysis, problem-solving, and business solutions. The role is based in the greater Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area and follows a hybrid work model, requiring on-site presence at a CareFirst location as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Mines and extracts data and applies algorithms to derive insights.
  • Contributes to analytics, reporting, and data governance activities related to Cost of Care Reporting, including ideation support, hotspot/trend analysis, dashboard and report management, and specialty/member/provider/other detail reporting.
  • Supports AI implementations, partnerships with IT/Data Management teams, and vendor collaborations (e.g., Milliman MedInsight).
  • Evaluates healthcare analytics to generate insights for healthcare solutions.
  • Acts as a trusted thought partner with business leads to perform proactive and reactive analysis for key stakeholders, deriving insights between key metrics and their drivers.
  • Researches and presents meaningful reports and analysis for healthcare system entities.
  • Creates effective key performance indicators and balanced scorecards to improve decision-making.
  • Builds infrastructure supporting analytical rigor and develops models/tools that drive healthcare strategy.
  • Uses business analytics to anticipate future needs of the healthcare organization and address business challenges.
  • Serves as a resource for junior business intelligence analysts, providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • May lead a team of matrixed resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • 5 years of experience with business intelligence tools, data analytics, and/or database management systems.
  • Prior healthcare analytics experience is required.
  • Experience delivering work consistently and transparently to internal and external business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Business Intelligence Professional or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).

  • Ability to translate technical complexities to key business stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and understand all areas of operations within the organization.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence software, such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide positive customer service, including to demanding or challenging customers.

Pay

Salary range: $81,720 - $162,305. The range has not been adjusted for geographic differentials and considers factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, internal equity, and market conditions. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range.
