About the role

The Senior Business Development Professional (Senior Geologist) on the Business Development Team conducts advanced geoscience analyses using diverse geologic data for reservoir parameter analysis and subsurface modeling. The role enhances reservoir understanding, evaluates new opportunities, and provides technically robust, commercially sound recommendations to drive value creation and growth. The primary function is evaluating corporate M&A and asset acquisition/divestiture (A&D) opportunities through integrated geoscience, technical, and commercial assessments to support strategic investment decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative multi-discipline team, presenting to senior leadership often with little notice.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration skills by communicating clearly, supporting colleagues, and contributing to shared objectives.
  • Coordinate, execute, and document geological modeling projects, ensuring effective management of scope while updating models with the latest data to enhance accuracy.
  • Review regional maps and depositional models for potential formations, verifying visualization and analysis of geological characteristics.
  • Perform detailed geological analyses using current stratigraphic correlation and structural techniques to enhance understanding of target formations.
  • Evaluate outcomes of both successful and failed drilling attempts for play concepts, developing skills in mapping, constructing play analogs, rock mechanics, data analytics, basic petrophysics, and log correlation.
  • Incorporate diagnostic techniques including well log, core analysis, seismic, volumetric mapping, and other diagnostics to identify overlooked opportunities for upside value.
  • Evaluate geological risk associated with potential deals, proactively managing uncertainties to describe potential value loss effectively.
  • Apply proficiency in reservoir geophysics, basin analysis, petroleum systems modeling, and sequence stratigraphic concepts to calibrate reservoirs.
  • Understand drive mechanisms and maturity levels for optimal reservoir performance.
  • Adhere to environmental and safety standards, ensuring strict compliance and fostering responsible practices in oil and gas exploration.
