About the role

The Senior Business Analyst on the LIMS/ELN and Entity Registration Platforms team bridges scientific research needs and IT solutions, with a focus on ELN/LIMS capabilities and the responsible adoption of Generative AI.

Responsibilities

  • Bridge scientific research needs and IT solutions, focusing on ELN/LIMS capabilities and the responsible adoption of Generative AI.
  • Partner with researchers, lab personnel, and IT to understand workflows, design solutions, and ensure effective implementation and support.
  • Build to demonstrate, emphasizing prototyping. Where a workflow gap is identified, the analyst builds a working configuration in the platform and walks stakeholders through it in a live session.
  • Translate scientific workflow needs into working platform configurations, schemas, entry forms, templates, routing rules, review workflows, and conduct working sessions in the platform to validate designs with scientists.
  • Enable GenAI workflow development, identifying, prototyping, and deploying GenAI-assisted workflows, protocol drafting assistants, experiment summarization, semantic search, assay troubleshooting bots, and defining evaluation criteria, guardrails, and responsible-use controls for each use case.
  • Manage backlog and sprint delivery, write precise user stories and acceptance criteria, script and execute UAT, develop training materials, and partner with QA/Validation for GxP/CLIA-applicable configurations.
  • Engage with scientific stakeholders, coordinate with platform vendors, contribute to SOWs, roadmap planning, and service reviews, and represent the team’s delivery capability with credibility.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on ELN/LIMS configuration experience, including Benchling schema design, registry models, entry workflows, notebook templates, routing rules, or equivalent depth in Sapio, Genedata, Dotmatics, Revvity, or IDBS BioBook.
  • Life sciences domain fluency, with experience in molecular biology, antibody discovery, protein chemistry, biochemistry, or related R&D lab workflows.
  • Clear communication, including ability to communicate effectively with lab, IT, and leadership audiences, and comfortable conducting live system walkthroughs alongside written communication.
  • GenAI prototyping capability, building and demonstrating working AI-assisted workflows — prompt engineering, RAG, evaluation frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Life Sciences (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering) or related field. Prior hands-on research experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years configuring and implementing ELN/LIMS platforms in life-sciences R&D (Benchling, Sapio, Genedata, Dotmatics, Revvity, or IDBS). 3+ years in a hands-on platform delivery role (Product BA, Platform Analyst, or equivalent).
  • Skills: ELN/LIMS configuration schemas, registry/entity models, notebook templates, workflow routing, roles/permissions, REST APIs / JSON, basic SQL for data validation and ad hoc analysis, familiarity with data models, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies relevant to research informatics, exposure to cloud analytics environments Databricks, Snowflake, or Power BI, basic Python or Jupyter notebooks for GenAI prototyping and data exploration (preferred).
