Senior Building Maintenance Worker
About the role
This is a full-time, 40 hours weekly, position with the Department of the Military. For more information, please visit https://military.sd.gov/. This Vacancy falls under the Construction and Facilities Management office, Operation and Maintenance Branch within the South Dakota Army National Guard/South Dakota Dept. Of the Military.
Responsibilities
- Engaged in all forms of facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and preventive maintenance, janitorial, grounds maintenance, snow removal and a wide variety of other maintenance related tasks.
- Interacting with customers, scheduling and completing maintenance projects, reports and records with the contractors and vendors.
- Achieving and maintaining a very high level of specific technical expertise regarding theory of operations with HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing and customer service.
- Tracing of critical outages and work orders, troubleshooting of electrical, and mechanical systems.

- Methods and practices of general building maintenance;
- Methods and practices of maintaining HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems;
- Methods and practices of custodial services;
- Methods and practices of grounds maintenance;
- Tools and equipment associated with maintenance activities;
- State of South Dakota procurement regulations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of State of South Dakota procurement regulations;
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
- Operate computers effectively;
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans;
- Accurately estimate costs of repairs and material requirements;
- Operate construction equipment and power tools;
- Assess the needs for repairs or preventive maintenance of buildings and equipment;
- Safely lift 50 pounds or more;
- Work from ladders, scaffolding, or in confined areas;
- Work outdoors.
Skills
- Driver’s license;
- Ability to obtain chemical applicator's licenses.

Pay
Pay Grade: E
Salary: $18.00-$21.17 Hourly, depending on qualifications
Schedule
Work schedule is typically 10 hour workdays, Tuesday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work schedule may vary due to emergency situations or snow removal.
Additional Information
The individual selected will undergo a National Security Check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) for access to the Federal Computer System. Licenses And Certifications valid driver's license; ability to obtain chemical applicator's licenses.
