About the role
This is a full-time position with the Department of the Military performing preventive maintenance on equipment and buildings at the South Dakota Air National Guard Base. Duties include maintenance of HVAC equipment, doors, gates, vehicle barriers, water heaters, heaters, air compressors, garage doors, and grounds maintenance.
Schedule
- Four 10-hour days, 6:45 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., Tuesday through Friday
- Schedule may vary due to emergency situations
- Required participation on snow-removal team during winter as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Work with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general construction trades
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Operate hand and power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and work in confined or elevated spaces
- Lift 50 pounds or more
- Work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of general building or facility maintenance methods and practices
- Familiarity with tools and equipment associated with maintenance tasks
- Experience with heating and cooling systems, electrical, and plumbing maintenance
- Ability to communicate clearly, follow oral and written instructions, and complete delegated tasks
- Ability to establish project timetables and work tactfully with others
- Basic computer operation skills
