Senior Bridge Engineer (PE), for COWI in North America

Our Southern California team is growing, and we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Bridge Engineer to contribute to challenging and high-profile infrastructure projects across the region.

About the role

You will work closely with your Technical Director and Project Managers alongside our customers on some of North America's most significant projects. This is your chance to convert aspirations into actions and lead teams of engineers and technicians while performing structural analysis, design, and evaluation for high-profile infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of engineers and technicians producing drawings and calculations along with supervising, coordinating, and reviewing the work of other engineers
• Prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets
• Perform structural analysis, design, evaluation and be responsible for the preparation of calculations and drawings
• Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, under applicable design codes along with engineering reports and other technical documents
• Research and review design options for both technical and financial impact
• Liaise with other professionals, clients, and third parties as needed
• Conduct bridge inspections, load rating analyses, seismic evaluations, and retrofit/rehabilitation studies
• Provide support during construction, including submittal reviews and site visits
• Perform other responsibilities as required

Requirements

• Hold a Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Be registered as a California PE in the home state or able to obtain within 12 months of employment
• Minimum of 10-15 years of related experience in Bridge Design, or equivalent
• Familiarity with structural design codes such as AASHTO
• Experience with structural analysis software programs (e.g., SOFiSTiK, CSiBridge, MIDAS, LARSA)
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Excel and Mathcad to efficiently produce engineering calculations
• Knowledgeable in parametric conceptual designs; experience with programming environments like Grasshopper and Dynamo would be beneficial

Pay

Base compensation: $103,200 to $159,600 for San Diego location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set, and/or location.
