About the role

This position plays a key role in leading and executing assurance engagements while providing excellent client service, supporting team development, and ensuring engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day assurance engagements, including planning, fieldwork, documentation, and completion.
  • Apply GAAS, GAAP, and firm methodology when performing and reviewing audit procedures.
  • Review workpapers, financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Evaluate risks, research technical accounting and auditing issues, and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients and provide practical recommendations to improve processes, controls, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor staff, provide on-the-job training and feedback, and review team members' work.
  • Coordinate engagement staffing, assignments, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with managers and partners to resolve engagement issues and manage risk.
  • Monitor engagement budgets, timelines, WIP, and billing to help ensure profitable, on-time delivery.
  • Utilize firm technology, data analytics, and approved AI-assisted tools to improve audit quality and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients and participate in practice development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
  • 1 year of experience with a CPA OR 2 years of relevant experience without CPA.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAS, GAAP, and applicable professional standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with audit software and data analytics tools.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience in the firm’s key industries and with data analytics/AI-assisted audit tools.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $67,000–$87,600. Actual compensation within the range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs. Placement within the range is at PBMares' discretion and is based on the specific circumstances of each candidate and position.

This position may require travel depending on client assignments and overtime during peak periods.
