About the role
The Senior Staff Attorney will take on high-level responsibility and act as lead on various projects under the supervision of the Executive Vice President/General Counsel and Associate Counsel. The role involves providing legal counsel and guidance on a broad range of subject matters, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, and representing the Foundation in legal matters both internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the General Counsel and Associate Counsel to ensure the Foundation is safeguarded and protected in all dealings.
- Provide legal counsel and guidance on a broad range of subject matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts.
- Represent the Foundation and navigate conversations, both internally and externally, regarding legal matters.
- Liaise with outside counsel.
- Maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively with all departments throughout the Foundation.
- Represent the values and brand of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
- Operate in accordance with the goals, needs, and mission of the Foundation.
Requirements
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house team and serving in a leadership role.
- Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA accredited law school; 5–7 years of legal experience; and active license to practice law in New York.
- Extensive knowledge of various areas of law including: contracts, real estate, employment, intellectual property, trusts, entertainment, and corporate governance.
- Non-profit experience strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive command of contractual and legal language, and experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to negotiate and navigate conversations dealing with high-level projects and sensitive matters.
- Ability to establish and maintain trust and relationships both internally and externally.
- Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Must be a team player and work collaboratively with the EVP, Legal Team, and various departments throughout the Foundation.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, handle significant responsibility.
- Must be detail oriented and organized, and someone who can complete tasks and projects from start to finish.
- Strong work ethic.
Working conditions
Special working conditions may include a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.
Pay
$120,000 – $130,000
