About the role

We're looking to hire a few Senior Associates within our Central Strategy & Operations that will help shape our strategy around delivery and labor efficiency, leveraging both operational and product levers to build logistics systems and frameworks. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and execution, with end-to-end ownership of key efficiency drivers and their impact on our business.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and initiatives that improve efficiency, elevate the customer experience, and strengthen our bottom line.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Finance to drive initiatives from concept through execution.
  • Build, test, and implement new systems and product features to optimize operations and enhance user experience.
  • Experiment with new strategies and operational experiments to create measurable and actionable outcomes.
  • Assess the operational and financial impacts of decisions and iterate based on data.
  • Own and deliver on improving key selection metrics and creating strategic plans aligned with product capabilities.
  • Lead and collaborate with a cross-functional team, including local operations, engineering, and product.

Requirements

  • Strong ownership, strategic thinking, and analytical rigor.
  • Comfortable operating at both high-level strategy and nitty-gritty operational details.
  • Unafraid of ambiguity and thrive in rapidly changing environments.
  • Analytical mindset, comfortable pulling data in SQL or modeling in Excel.
  • 4-6+ years of professional experience, ideally in product operations, logistics manufacturing, engineering, or business operations.
  • Bonus points for experience in physical retail, manufacturing, or warehousing environments, especially grocery warehousing or online micro-fulfillment centers.
  • Completed BS/BA degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Qualifications

  • Solve problems from first principles and resist "this is how it's always been done" thinking.
  • Comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot, able to think long-term and inspire teams.
  • Experience with distributed databases, particularly Apache Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, and database agnostic abstractions.
  • Experience with Taulu, a unified storage abstraction layer, and proficient in designing and optimizing multi-region, globally distributed systems.
  • Ability to lead data modeling, performance tuning, and capacity planning for large-scale, mission-critical storage workloads.
  • Customer-centric approach, skilled at translating complex requirements into clean, scalable data models.
  • Experience with caching technologies like Redis or Memcached and effective layering over storage systems.
  • Track record of mentoring engineers and influencing data architecture at scale.
  • Document decisions, share learnings, and contribute to reusable playbooks and durable frameworks.
  • Bonus: Experience with open-source distributed databases.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) plan with employer matching, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, wellness benefits, commuter benefits match, paid time off, and paid sick leave.
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, disability and basic life insurance, family-forming assistance, and a mental health program.
