About the role

The AI Foundations LLM Customization team at Capital One is dedicated to bringing our vision for Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI to life. Our work spans the entire research lifecycle, from initial research to deploying robust, scalable production systems. We collaborate closely with product, technology, and business leaders to leverage the latest advancements in AI to enhance our offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with a diverse team of data scientists, applied researchers, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to develop AI-powered products that transform customer interactions with financial services.
  • Leverage a wide array of technologies, including PyTorch, Hugging Face, AWS Ultraclusters, LangChain, and Vector Databases, to uncover insights from vast datasets.
  • Expertly handle Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks, fine-tuning LLMs for specific business needs and applications.
  • Build and optimize NLP models throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring they are integrated into scalable and resilient production systems.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, translating them into actionable business goals.

Requirements

  • Currently holds or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field).
  • Experience with AWS, Python, Scala, or R, and proficiency in machine learning and SQL.
  • Knowledge of LLMs and open-source tools, with at least 2 years of experience in these areas.
  • Experience in training and optimizing language models, or in computer vision, with expertise in relevant subdomains.
  • Track record of delivering models at scale, both in terms of training data and inference volumes.
  • Ability to contribute to cross-functional teams and drive innovative solutions in AI/ML.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), or PhD in a STEM field.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and AI models.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

Salaries for this role vary by location, ranging from $135,600 to $168,900 annually. For more details, refer to the provided salary ranges.
