Senior Associate, Data Scientist - LLM Customization Team
About the role
The AI Foundations LLM Customization team at Capital One is dedicated to bringing our vision for Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI to life. Our work spans the entire research lifecycle, from initial research to deploying production systems. We collaborate with product, technology, and business leaders to apply the latest advancements in AI to our business needs.
Responsibilities
- Partner with a cross-functional team to develop AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions with financial services.
- Leverage a diverse set of technologies including PyTorch, Hugging Face, AWS Ultraclusters, LangChain, and Vector Databases to analyze vast amounts of data.
- Expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to fine-tune and adapt LLMs for specific business applications.
- Build and optimize NLP models throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring they are scalable and resilient in production environments.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders to align on business goals.
Requirements
- Currently holds or is close to obtaining a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related).
- Experience with AWS, Python, Scala, or R.
- At least 2 years of experience in machine learning and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's or PhD in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
- Experience with training optimization, self-supervised learning, explainability, and RLHF.
- Track record of delivering models at scale in terms of training data and inference volumes.
- Experience in delivering libraries, platforms, or solution-level code to existing products.

Pay
Salaries for this role range from $135,600 to $168,900 annually, depending on location and experience. Performance-based incentives may also be offered.

This role is full-time and requires regular attendance and availability to meet job responsibilities.
