Senior Assistant Buyer
Primary Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and analyze reports to support the business (MicroStrategy, Item/Color, Hindsight, Buy Plan, Conceptual Plan)
- Retail Math: understand concepts and impact to business (calculate IMU, selling margin, pricing impact)
- Understand how financial levers connect to impact business (sales, profit, and inventory metrics)
- Audits item set-up, approves content
- Creates purchase orders/work orders for flagship and stores
- Validates set and ship dates and vendor information
- Cross-functional collaboration and establishes external partnerships
- Turns in marketing samples, manages on-time arrival audit of weekly marketing
- Enters marketed item in ad tracker, updates store counts
- Conducts digital inventory audit
- Provides input on pricing determinations and keys pricing and signing for flagship and stores
- Understands impact of change in pricing events (TY vs. LY)
- Aids Buyer with building assortment plan, category history, and market share analysis
- Sets sells & fixture placement: knowledge of fixture capacity, signage guidance, presentation standards
- Systems knowledge - Excel, EPPFC, RMS Order, RMS Item Inquiry, RMS Ecomm Management
- Other systems as needed
Core Competencies & Accomplishments
- College degree or equivalent business experience
- 3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar role
- Retail planning experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Able to recognize, analyze, and quantify market trends
- Results-oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
- Able to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlines
About the Role
The Sr. Assistant Buyer supports the daily purchasing of items for a specific division’s sub-category. Reporting directly to the division’s Buyer or Sr. Buyer and working alongside other Sr. Assistant Buyers, they ensure accuracy in the ordering process (Buying) while facilitating communication between vendors and the corresponding buyers.
Qualifications
College degree or equivalent business experience
3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar role
Retail planning experience preferred
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
Able to recognize, analyze, and quantify market trends
Results-oriented and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
Able to independently organize and prioritize broad workload to meet deadlines

USD $57,000.00 - USD $95,000.00 /Yr.
