About the role
MTA Construction & Development (C&D) is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of all capital construction projects across the MTA region. This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of architects involved in the concept design, modification, analysis, and construction of MTA C&D projects to produce detailed and accurate drawings and specifications, including for MTA-related infrastructure.
- Meet internal MTA C&D departments and Agency Owners regarding project goals and timelines.
- Ensure project plans are in place, progress is continuously monitored, and open issues are tracked and closed.
- Ensure work is checked for quality, completeness, and adherence to proper architectural codes/standards.
- Use various software and programs to develop/review analysis, design, and plan preparation/review.
- Mentor young architects and designers, leading technical teams while developing staff.
- Prepare, review, and/or approve proposals, contracts, or cost estimates.
- Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants and clients.
- Assist the project management team through creative problem-solving, interactions with agency owners, and the completion of tasks to meet the project schedule.
- Provide construction inspection support and architectural oversight on active construction projects.
- Work with the Project Management team for project reviews, change procedures, and commercial and project control updates.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Architecture degree. Master's preferred.
- Minimum of fourteen (14) years of related experience.
- Minimum of eight (8) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
Qualifications
- A registered NYS licensed architect (RA) is required.
- Demonstrated experience in large-scale architectural issues for significant construction projects or projects with highly complex systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing designers, contractors, subcontractors, and/or vendors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.
- Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels.
- Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
SkillsProficiency in current design software and Microsoft Office is required.

Final salary is determined by experience, skill set, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.

Hours of Work: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as required (7.5HR/ DAY)
