Senior Aquatics Specialist

Ensures proper care for aquatic life by adhering to operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.

• Completes aquatic maintenance, assesses and addresses aquatic life health and conditions, and creates Companion Animal Incident Reports as needed.
• Maintains expertise through training programs and educates other PCC partners on aquatic care and maintenance.
• Sells aquatic life orders and special requests to maximize sales and inventory.
• Supports guests and other PCC partners regarding aquatic education and care.
• Participates in aquatic life physical inventory counts and collaborates with the CAL to analyze department inventory management data.
• Stocks, prices, and displays aquatic life and merchandise to create a great presentation for guests.
• Performs routine housekeeping tasks such as aquarium system maintenance, sweeping/mopping floors, dusting, etc.
• Accurately completes required digital paperwork in a timely manner.

• Contribute to a safe environment by maintaining safety protocols.
• Engage in a collaborative culture centered around solving for the health and wellness needs of pets.
• Participate in developmental programs to support continued growth throughout the career.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for freshwater and marine aquatic life.
• High level of knowledge of aquatic life and aptitude for sales techniques.
• Professional appearance and demeanor, keen and genuine interest in animals and their care.
• Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Completion of all assigned Petco Animal Care training programs.

Education/Skills:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships.
• Exceptional communication skills.

Work Environment:

• Indoor job duties with occasional guest carryout.
• Risk of injury from not following procedures due to bending, kneeling, moving merchandise, and standing for long periods.
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
