Senior Aquatics Specialist

Ensures that all aquatic life in the Petco stores are receiving appropriate care by adhering to all operational guidelines, policies, and procedures, completing all aquatic maintenance, assessing and addressing aquatic life health and conditions (e.g. medicate, water change, remove from sale, etc.), and creating Companion Animal Incident Reports as needed.

  • Completes and applies training programs to maintain a high level of expertise and educate other Petco Animal Care (PCC) partners in aquatic care and maintenance.
  • Effectively places aquatic life orders and special-order requests to maximize sales and inventory to meet customer needs.
  • Utilizes the selling model to support guests and other PCC partners regarding all aquatic education and care.
  • Participates in the completion of all aquatic life physical inventory counts.
  • Collaborates with the CAL to analyze department inventory management data, CAPI results, and recommends areas for improvement.
  • Safeguards aquatic life and merchandise by ensuring it is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for guests, including performing routine housekeeping tasks such as aquarium system maintenance, sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, etc.
  • Accurately completes required digital paperwork (e.g., water test results, receiving POs, etc.) in a timely manner within the aquatic department.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as required or assigned with or without regular supervision.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for freshwater and marine aquatic life is required for this position.
  • High level of knowledge of aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, keen and genuine interest in animals and their care.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Completion of all assigned Petco Animal Care training programs.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
