Petco Love has helped find homes for over 7 million animals through in-store adoption events since 1999. This role involves caring for aquatic life, ensuring their health and well-being, and interacting with customers to provide excellent service.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to operational guidelines and complete aquatic maintenance tasks, including medicating, changing water, removing unsuitable specimens, and documenting incidents.
  • Train and educate other partners in aquatic care and maintenance, ensuring they understand our selling model and can effectively assist guests.
  • Place aquatic life orders and handle special requests to optimize sales and inventory management.
  • Participate in aquatic life physical inventory counts and collaborate with the CAL to analyze and improve departmental inventory management.
  • Stock, price, and display aquatic life and merchandise to enhance the guest experience, including performing routine housekeeping tasks like aquarium maintenance and cleaning.
  • Accurately complete required digital paperwork and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for all.
  • Engage in additional duties and projects as assigned, contributing to a collaborative culture and fostering continuous learning and development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience caring for freshwater and marine aquatic life.
  • High-level knowledge of aquatic life and strong sales skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, along with a genuine interest in animals and their care.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Completion of Petco Animal Care training programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $13.00 - $22.00 per hour, with a start rate of $15.00 per hour. The actual pay will vary based on factors such as position, location, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws.
