Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax
Support the company’s indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations across U.S. jurisdictions, including annual business license and gross receipts filings, sales and use tax compliance, audit support, tax account reconciliations, and notice resolution. Partner with internal business teams, external service providers, and state and local tax authorities to ensure accurate and timely compliance while minimizing tax risk.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate annual reports, business license renewals, and state registrations.
- Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance calendars.
- Research filing requirements for new jurisdictions and business activities.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax filings.
- Manage tax accrual processes and support tax determination reviews.
- Analyze taxability of products, services, software, and other transactions across jurisdictions.
- Prepare and review gross receipts, commercial activity, and other local tax filings.
- Compile and validate supporting data from multiple business systems.
- Support implementation and maintenance of indirect tax systems and processes.
- Manage receipt, tracking, and resolution of sales and use tax notices.
- Research assessments, prepare responses, and coordinate communications with taxing authorities.
- Support sales and use tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor requests.
- Track audit findings and ensure timely resolution of open items.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or tax.
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new tax concepts, regulations, technologies, and business processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships internally (Finance, Accounting, Legal, IT, Retail Ops) and externally (state and local taxing authorities).
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, resolve issues, and support compliance initiatives.
- Experience working with large data sets, reconciliations, or regulatory filings.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with annual reports, business licenses, and gross receipts taxes.
- Exposure to U.S. sales and use tax concepts and state filing requirements.
- Experience managing tax notices and audits.
- Process improvement and automation experience.
Pay
Hiring range: $68,000.00 – $85,000.00 USD annually. This position is eligible for additional compensation awards, including an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
