Responsibilities
- Partner with a team of tax professionals to consistently deliver all sales, use, and property tax obligations in a timely manner.
- Prepare, review, and analyze sales, use, and property tax compliance data; continuously improve processes, and recommend automation integration to improve the end-to-end compliance process and reliability of results.
- Collaborate with 3rd party consultants and internal parties to resolve indirect tax related issues, including but not limited to notices and business license matters.
- Assist with indirect tax audits; compile and review requested documentation and audit workpapers, document results and assist in implementing solutions to reduce future exposure.
- Prepare month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts.
- Research, analyze, and communicate the impact of indirect tax law developments.
- Monitor and evaluate business activities for filing responsibilities and nexus exposure to mitigate indirect tax deficiencies.
- Research, understand, and determine the taxability of the goods and services being sold and purchased by the company.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in a finance function (public or private)
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-oriented finance department or similar working environment.
- Minimum 1 year of indirect tax compliance experience utilizing analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills, including a deep understanding of US retail and healthcare sales taxability concepts.
- Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and tactfully, both verbally and in writing, successfully translating always-complex tax rules for business partners and customers.
- Ability to work productively with a high degree of independence and with accuracy and high attention to detail, while knowing when to seek guidance or assistance.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collaborative culture, especially during high-pressure periods.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience with SAP
