About the role
The Senior Analyst, Digital Finance and Special Projects (Temp) role delivers strategic financial analysis and advanced modeling to support decision-making across Macy's, Inc. This position develops and manages complex financial models that evaluate investment opportunities, forecast costs and benefits, and enable scenario planning through dynamic assumptions. Success requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to extract, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple sources to generate actionable insights and influence business strategy. The role demands navigating complex business challenges, building cross-functional partnerships, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining flexibility during critical project phases while delivering high-quality financial insights that support organizational objectives and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and detailed analytical modeling that drives decision-making for Macy’s Inc.
- Manage and create complex financial models that project future costs and benefits and allow toggling of assumptions for scenario modeling.
- Build and maintain partnerships across the organization, demonstrating a creative mindset to navigate complex topics.
- Support peak workloads during critical project phases with flexibility and balance multiple objectives simultaneously.
- Partner closely with Procurement & Strategy to support RFP processes and other financial modeling as needed (experience with organizational and enterprise transformational projects is a plus).
- Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from various sources to influence and support business strategies.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis, financial reporting, and presentations for senior management.
- Collaborate with key business leaders across departments including Capital Planning, Strategy, Mtech, Finance, Customer & Digital.
- Support and prepare Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) in partnership with Capital Planning for Customer & Digital capital initiatives.
- Support monthly and annual planning and forecasting of capital investments.
- Prepare and support various Capital Lookback projects to understand actual performance vs. original pro forma assumptions.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Ability to perform essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems.
- Ability to access and review written and electronic information, move within the work environment, and interact with workplace materials.
Skills
- Financial Analysis and Planning: Expertise in evaluating P&Ls, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial modeling to identify trends, risks, and opportunities while developing actionable strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Strong ability to collaborate across teams, including Finance, Accounting, Technology, Analytics, Product, Logistics, and Strategy, to align business goals.
- Financial Modeling and Reporting: Experience in conducting in-depth financial analysis, building models, and creating ad hoc reports to assess and present the impact of initiatives.
- Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, manage workloads, and promote quality, accuracy, and thoroughness in financial forecasting and analysis.
- Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving: Strong strategic and creative thinking skills to assess complex financial scenarios, identify opportunities, and implement solutions.
- Communication and Presentation: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and concisely to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Google BigQuery is a plus.
- Professional Maturity and Discretion: Ability to handle highly sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Schedule
Able to work a hybrid schedule which includes 3 days remote and 2 days in the office.
