Senior Aircraft Technician - Mechanical (NHC)

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Senior Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) to join the New Helicopter Completions (NHC) team in Columbus, MS. This role involves detailed inspection, assembly, installation, repair, or replacement of aircraft components and systems, as well as maintenance, refurbishing, and functional checks of helicopters.

About the role

You will be part of a team ensuring the highest quality of care and safety in each aircraft assembled and maintained. The role supports new helicopter completions, deliveries, STC development, aircraft training fleet, and demonstrations.

Responsibilities

• Provide aircraft maintenance support for new helicopter completions and deliveries, STC development, training fleet, and demonstrations.
• Perform detailed assembly, installation, repair, replacement, adjustment, and alignment of parts and components.
• Troubleshoot malfunctioning systems and components to determine corrective actions for safety and airworthiness.
• Conduct airframe calendar/hourly inspections and hidden damage inspections of airframe structures and sub-assemblies.
• Perform aircraft disassembly and reassembly, including loading/offloading aircraft to/from trailers.
• Conduct track and balancing of rotor systems and vibration analysis.

Requirements

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience as an aviation mechanic.
• Helicopter maintenance experience.
• An A&P license is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and apply standard shop practices for fabrication and repair modifications.
• US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or person covered under an existing ITAR license).

• Onsite or remote: 70% onsite.
• Vision: Ability to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings daily.
• Hearing: Ability to participate in conversations and hear safety warnings or alarms daily.
• Speaking: Ability to communicate in conversations and meetings daily.
• Equipment Operation: Ability to operate office equipment (computers, phones) and production tools (hydraulic lifts) daily.
• Carrying: Ability to carry documents, tools, and equipment up to 30 lbs/14 kg daily.
• Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg daily.
• Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push/pull aircraft with ground wheels and turn rotors by hand daily.
• Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods in meetings or while working on a computer.
• Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to retrieve or replace items from low shelving.
• Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice, including flying in aircraft daily.
• Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves as required by site or customer site. Steel-toed shoes are mandatory for shop floor visits.
