Job Description

Participate in the recruitment process, both virtually and in-person. May include domestic/international travel to meet with prospective students, their families and college counselors, community-based organizations (CBOs), and representing Barnard at college fairs and panels to give public presentations about Barnard’s academic programs and resources, admission and financial aid policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate recruitment travel effectiveness and provide detailed post-trip analysis reports using the office's CRM.
  • Reads and evaluates first-year and transfer admission applications in order to assess the students’ match with Barnard.
  • Participates in the admissions committee discussion of applicants by presenting qualified candidates and providing regional and contextual expertise.
  • Engage prospective students, families, and counselors through daily in-person and virtual visitor programming; serve as the designated 'Person of the Day' point person.
  • Correspond with prospective students, applicants, alumnae, college counselors, parents, guardians, and others seeking information on admissions policies, academic and non-academic programs, and student activities in writing and via phone calls.
  • May be responsible for coordinating among the following special project responsibilities, which may rotate among Senior Admissions Officers:
    • Admissions Events, both on-campus and virtual
    • Barnard Student Admissions Representatives (BSAR)
    • The Barnard Alumnae Admissions Representatives (BAARs) Program
    • Liaison to the Jewish Theological Seminary Double Degree Program
    • Liaison to Columbia University Athletics Department for the NCAA Division I Ivy League athletic program, in partnership with Columbia Admissions
    • Opportunity Programs Coordinator, including the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)
    • Social Media and Communications Team

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to advocate for a liberal arts education and the benefits of a women’s college.
  • Strong attention to detail and expertise in handling confidential data with a commitment to data integrity.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively to complete projects from start to finish maintaining communications with admissions leadership.
  • Understanding of the admissions landscape and an interest in higher education issues.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends and extended hours, at various times of the year and travel for up to two weeks at a time.

Pay

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
