About the Role

The Senior Admin Analyst with DMI will evaluate organizational processes and systems to identify inefficiencies and implement strategic improvements under the direction of a Business Systems Analyst III. Responsibilities include collecting data, documenting workflows, performing system testing, providing technical support, resolving system issues, and developing training materials for end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct management and organizational studies and surveys to develop recommendations for management improvements.
  • Identify problems or factors inhibiting the achievement of program goals and define project objectives.
  • Develop work plans considering objectives and problems to be solved.
  • Collect pertinent data through interviews, conferences, questionnaires, reports, and on-site observation.
  • Document current stakeholders, system and business processes, business flows, inputs, and outputs for functional business areas.
  • Document revised stakeholders, business processes, flows, and transformed inputs/outputs to address organizational problems.
  • Prepare analyses such as cost/benefit and systems analysis related to record storage.
  • Create training and procedure manuals for end-users.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues in existing systems resulting from errors.
  • Provide technical support to end-users.
  • Develop test data and scenarios, test system functions, and document results.
  • Develop training materials related to business systems implementation.
  • Write procedure manuals and document business process deficiencies requiring resolution during or after implementation.

Requirements

  • Four to six years of experience conducting management and organizational studies to review and revise procedures, develop internal controls, conduct cost-benefit or systems analysis, evaluate program operations, and design procedure manuals, forms, and policies.
  • An associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree for four years; a master’s degree for five years; a J.D. for six years.
  • For transfer candidates: Permanent status as a Senior Administrative Analyst and eligibility for lateral transfer, or one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title within two salary grades.

Pay

  • Administrative Analyst Trainee 1: $57,764
  • Administrative Analyst Trainee 2: $63,994
  • Senior Administrative Analyst (full performance level): $70,951

Candidates appointed at a trainee level must successfully complete the traineeship to advance to the full performance level. Starting salary for current New York State employees is based on their salary at the time of hire.

Schedule

Specific scheduled hours and telecommuting availability will be discussed during the interview process. Employees must obtain approval through management to telecommute according to operational needs and Agency Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
