About the role

The Senior Accounts Payable (A/P) Associate is a key member of the Finance team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of the accounts payable process. This role provides advanced support in invoice processing, vendor management, and payment execution.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle Accounts payable responsibilities. Review and input supplier invoices. Review and approve SAP Concur employee expense reports. Prepare and distribute checks and ACH payments on a weekly basis to provide timely payment to suppliers and employees.
  • Evaluate invoices for sales/use tax accruals and 1099 status.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from suppliers and coworkers regarding supplier/employee expense account status.
  • Review open purchase orders / goods and service receipts and coordinate with the buyer for closing.
  • Consult with the Accounts Payable Manager on issues and implement solutions as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain supplier master data in accounting system.
  • Maintain supplier documentation and back-up files.
  • Support audit requests by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis & support and delegate to junior associate when necessary.
  • Support strategic initiatives by ensuring operational activities align with strategic goals.
  • Lead accounts payable support POC for operational issues, concerns or problems.
  • Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies, vendor disputes, or payment issues.
  • Act as the primary lead on key operational accounts payable initiatives, such as automation rollouts, process optimization, and system upgrades.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with buyers, Accounting, and IT to help implement accounts payable related improvements and system enhancements.
  • Facilitate the coordination of project timelines and deliverables, communicating with managers to ensure initiatives are executed efficiently and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Review the work of junior team members for accuracy and compliance when requested.
  • Participate in testing system updates, workflows, or new automation tools.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including AP accruals and reconciliations.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of high-volume accounts payable or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Experience with SAP Products is preferred (S/4HANA, Analytics Cloud, Concur).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and to satisfy diverse, multiple, time-critical demands, multi-task oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective work relationships at all levels and in all departments within the organization.
  • Motivated team player with positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

  • Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events.
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (with advance notice).
  • May be required to travel to other company locations.
  • May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.

Pay

The range for this role is $36.35 - $44.92
