Senior Accounting Technician
About the role
The Department Fiscal Operations Section is a vital hub of financial activity, made up of three key units: Disbursements, Billing and Receivables, and Grants. As a Senior Accounting Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our fiscal engine—processing detailed accounts payable transactions based on fiscal policies and procedures with precision and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Review and process invoices, requisitions, receiving reports, and contract encumbrance payments
- Manage trust client accounts and prepare and post payments using an automated financial system
- Manage vouchers and process payment requests related to trust clients' essential needs
- Research and resolve accounts payable discrepancies
- Prepare fiscal reports and reconcile multiple trust accounts
- Process fiscal year-end transactions and provide technical assistance and fiscal training
- Other duties include cross training and special projects
Requirements

Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of job-related experience
Beyond the Basics
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- At least four (4) years of accounts payable experience in County or State Government
- Three (3) or more years of accounts payable experience managing Social Security Organized Payee accounts or other multiple fiscal accounts
- Experience and proficiency working knowledge of financial data entry programs/software
