Key Responsibilities
- Process day-to-day accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, customer invoicing, and payment posting.
- Aid with payroll processing and related documentation to ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger activity, including journal entries and expense coding.
- Reconcile high-volume, perishable, and growing inventory to ensure accuracy and proper valuation.
- Aid with seasonal cash flow management.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including revenue recognition, cost matching, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Generate financial, operational, inventory, and job costing reports for leadership review and decision-making.
- Complete cash reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly and accurately.
- Aid with tax compliance activities by preparing documentation and assisting with reporting requirements.
- Aid with annual audit preparation by compiling schedules, records, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Owner and Accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date accounting and inventory records.
- Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Interact professionally with vendors, customers, and small business clients regarding account inquiries, billing, and payment issues.
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred; Experience with GAAP in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, inventory accounting, payroll support, and general ledger functions.
- Experience with retail operations preferred.
- Job costing Knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software such as QBO and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a seasonal business environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Skills
- QBO Experience with inventory-heavy, retail, or seasonal businesses.
- Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
