SENIOR ACCOUNTING OFFICER (SPECIALIST)
Salary range: $6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
This is a permanent, full-time hybrid position located in Sacramento County.

The Accounting and Automation Support Bureau actively participates in the County Expense Claim Reporting Information System (CECRIS) Project from start to finish following the Agile-SCRUM methodology. The Bureau contributes to the procurement process, monitors contract obligations and deliverables, and ensures efficient compliance with all guidelines, rules, and regulations. It utilizes the newly automated time reporting system, Employee Service Center, to streamline the labor distribution process, ensuring the fiscal integrity of the cost allocation and FI$Cal month-end/year-end processes. The Bureau also ensures cost allocation processes adhere to federally approved methodology for the State's Cost Allocation Plan and align with the Budget Act. Additionally, it provides financial reports and analysis to stakeholders and department end users to support the Accounting and Fiscal System Branch's mission.

Responsibilities
The Senior Accounting Officer, Specialist (SAO-Spec) conducts complex accounting transactions in the Encumbrance Unit and is responsible for analytical, planning, and oversight activities. The role requires independent work utilizing state policies and rules, conducting research, writing and presenting special reports, and leading or participating in special projects.
- Analyze and review incoming requests for the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) entry to determine appropriate fund coding for a variety of transactions, including IT, Non-IT, and other payment agreements to ensure state compliance.

Candidates who reside outside of California may be admitted to the job interview but must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. These assignments are temporary and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.
