Senior Accounting Manager
About the role
The Senior Accounting Manager oversees the organization's general accounting function, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role leads a team, drives process improvements, and supports strategic financial initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the general accounting team
- Establish, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Oversee accounting data analysis and prepare accurate financial reports
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Manage and review balance sheet account reconciliations
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and financial reporting processes
- Oversee the fixed asset system, including capitalization, disposals, impairments, and depreciation
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Identify and implement process improvements, including automation initiatives, to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Provide guidance on complex or non-routine accounting transactions
- Research and resolve accounting issues in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and procedures
- Cover audit requests and ensure timely and accurate responses
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, ensuring adherence to deadlines and performance expectations
- Aid in the development and implementation of new systems, processes, and controls
- Provide training and mentorship to team members
- Set performance goals for direct reports and support ongoing professional development
- Participate in special projects and continuous process improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory role
- Public accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance

- Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) preferred
