About the role
The Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead and manage the Accounting Program, including Payroll and Accounts Receivable units. This role requires a CPA certification and three years of supervisory experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for the Accounting Program
- Assist the Comptroller with financial management and reporting, including policy implementation and compliance with rules and statutes
- Assign, direct, and evaluate special projects and studies
- Respond to inquiries related to program processes, providing advice and guidance to management and staff
- Attend and participate in meetings regarding payroll, accounts receivable, and other confidential matters
- Stay current on new developments in financial and accounting processes through continuing education
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Requirements
- Four years of college with coursework in accounting, financial management, or related fields
- Three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in accounting or financial management
- Three years of professional supervisory experience in a large organization
- Three years of professional experience building complex Excel solutions for fiscal data
- Two years of professional experience supervising professional accounting/fiscal staff
- Two years of professional experience designing and producing comprehensive reports to identify statutory/policy violations
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the State of Illinois Pay Plan and Personnel Code, Rules, and Position Classification Plan
- Familiarity with personnel classification and compensation systems
- Experience with payroll and timekeeping applications/systems
- Ability to analyze administrative programs and processes, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
