This full-time position focuses on internal accounting operations, ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting and sound internal controls. The role involves processing customer rebates and sales commissions, offering growth opportunities through exposure to broader business operations. Based in Perrysburg, Ohio, this role reports directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the calculation, audit, and approval process for the company’s customer rebates and sales commissions.
  • Prepare accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to defined accounting standards.
  • Complete monthly closing and reconciliation activities, ensuring journal entries and the general ledger are accurate.
  • Review records of accounts and entries to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Work with business teams to ensure accuracy in financial data.
  • Assist in intercompany accounting at month-end, ensuring transactions between entities are accurate and complete.
  • Support the internal control framework by maintaining adequate documentation, adhering to accounting standards, and complying with internal processes and controls.

Key Success Factors

  • Understanding of fundamental finance and accounting concepts (GAAP, financial statements) while acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to analyze solutions using standard procedures to solve problems.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, SAP, or similar systems.
  • Experience in data science, data analytics, and business intelligence, including creating data-rich dashboards.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities concurrently while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with a natural ability to connect with people to achieve results.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, ensuring reliable and accurate numerical results.
  • Self-motivated with a drive for results and minimal need for oversight.
  • Desire to learn and willingness to be coached for career growth.

Performance Metrics

  • Ensure sales and use tax compliance to prevent audit-related penalties.
  • Deliver complete and clean account reconciliations.
  • Own Fixed Assets and CIP accounting, including ROI post-mortem for major projects.
  • Achieve month-end and quarter-end timelines, delivering results within stated deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Information systems or technology-related minor is a plus.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience is preferred.
