Senior Accountant – Title/Escrow
About the role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations related to real estate closings, escrow accounts, and trust accounting. This role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, strict compliance with state regulations, and timely handling of high-volume transactions. You will be a key figure for the finance team, title officers, and management, providing transparency and reliability in accounting practices related to title and escrow services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily or monthly reconciliations of escrow bank statements with escrow software (SoftPro).
- Ensure strict compliance with state regulatory requirements for trust accounts.
- Manage high-volume, time-sensitive incoming and outgoing wire transfers for closings.
- Record transaction fees, charges, and commission distributions accurately.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets.
- Collaborate with title officers, escrow agents, and management to resolve discrepancies and support financial operations.
- Aid in identifying and mitigating financial risks within escrow and trust accounting processes.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records, ensuring audit readiness.
- Support internal reporting and financial analysis to guide decision-making.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, office-based position in a modern, cozy environment in our Fort Lauderdale HQ. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Prior experience in title company accounting, escrow accounting, or real estate financial operations is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with escrow software (SoftPro preferred, or similar) and standard accounting software.
- Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliations, wire transfers, and transaction accounting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
- Ability to manage time-sensitive transactions with accuracy and professionalism.
