About the role
The Senior Accountant position at Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is based in Aiken, SC on the Savannah River Site (SRS). This role supports the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes complicated financial and non-financial data and provides insight on current trends, fluctuations and variances.
- Prepares income statement and balance sheet forecasts.
- Prepares financial slides for Board of Manager's presentation.
- Provides quarterly revenue and earnings variance analysis.
- Establishes and analyzes cost pools, allocations and variances.
- Creates requirement documents to assist with development of IT applications for accounting processes.
- Prepares package for annual plan.
- Prepares month-end and quarter-end journal entries and other reconciliations.
- Performs month-end and year-end closing process.
- Acts as a point of contact for audits.
- Prepares lease vs buy analyses. Generates, analyzes and distributes monthly financial statements.
- Responds to data and audit requests through analysis and reporting of data.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with representatives throughout the organization.
- Extracts, uploads, and integrates data from multiple systems.
- Develops internal project plans and schedules.
- Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
- Prepares balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports.
- May design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions.
- Responsible for the adherence to and communication of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices and auditing Department of Energy (DOE) orders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (degree may reflect business administration).
- Professional experience in the field of accounting.
- Advanced use of computerized accounting systems.
- Demonstrated experience in properly handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Demonstrated experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- Demonstrated experience with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
- Demonstrated experience with indirect rate calculations.
- Demonstrated experience with governmental labor costing.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to work in the local commuting area (within 2 hours of the worksite).
Skills

Pay
$76,000.00/Yr. USD $138,000.00/Yr. Exceptions to this range/rate may be applied on a case-by-case basis taking into account aspects such as education, experience, and skill need of the organization.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday.
