Senior Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
• Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide variance explanations and trend insights
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Support quarterly and annual audit activities
• Manage project accounting across active jobs, including cost tracking, margin analysis, and revenue allocation
• Maintain and analyze WIP schedules (percent complete, cost to complete, profitability forecasts)
• Partner with project managers to validate progress, update forecasts, and identify risks
• Monitor job costing, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses
• Support revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., percentage-of-completion)
• Strengthen and maintain internal controls across accounting and project processes
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, and system efficiencies
• Drive automation and process enhancements to improve accuracy and timeliness
• Cross-functionally collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership teams
• Provide financial insights to support decision-making and project performance
• Communicate key financial trends and recommendations to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA or CMA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and project accounting
• Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based environments strongly preferred

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and WIP accounting principles
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
