Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances
- Support annual financial statement audits and government audits
- Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and other government contracting regulations
- Monitor contract funding, indirect rates, and project costs
- Review labor distributions, direct costs, and indirect cost allocations
- Aid in incurred cost submissions (ICE), provisional billing rates, and indirect rate calculations
- Support contract setup and maintenance within the accounting system
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely customer invoices for government contracts, including: Cost-reimbursable contracts, Time & Materials (T&M) contracts, Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts
- Review contract terms to ensure billing complies with contractual requirements
- Process public vouchers through WAWF, IPP, or other government billing portals, as applicable
- Reconcile billed revenue to the general ledger
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding invoices
- Resolve customer billing discrepancies in collaboration with Program Managers and Contract Administrators
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain supporting documentation for audits and contract reviews
- Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase efficiency
- Support DCAA audits and customer financial reviews
- Partner with Contracts, Program Management, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure accurate project accounting
- Provide financial guidance to project managers regarding contract funding, labor charging, and billing
- Mentor junior accounting staff and assist with training as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in government contracting
- Strong knowledge of: GAAP, FAR, DCAA compliance
- Experience with government contract billing, including T&M, Cost Plus, and FFP contracts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience with indirect rate calculations and provisional billing rates
- Knowledge of WAWF, IPP, PIEE, or other federal invoicing systems
- Experience supporting DCAA audits and contractor business system reviews
