Senior Accountant - Insurance
About the role
This Senior Accountant position is part of Ally's Controller's Team. The role involves preparing consolidated financial statements, supporting control operations, analyzing and reconciling accounts, and coordinating with various groups across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K) using NAIC accounting principles.
- Support qualitative improvements in control operations to reduce or eliminate control deficiencies.
- Analyze and reconcile more complex accounts, researching discrepancies and taking corrective actions.
- May supervise junior accountants, providing training and development, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Provide insights into potential process improvements and coordinate with multiple groups to gather necessary materials.
- Participate in reviewing and making adjustments to financial statements based on feedback from various stakeholders.
- Offer analytical accounting support to internal business partners and assist in resolving accounting issues through proper channels.
- Drive audit compliance within the areas for which you are responsible.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- CPA (or equivalent) and/or MBA preferred.
- Strong preference for public accounting experience.
- Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
- Experience with Workday.

Pay
The base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $120,000 USD annually, with the actual salary determined by the specific role, scope, and responsibilities. Incentive compensation is also available through an annual incentive plan.
Schedule
Roles are designated as fully on-site, hybrid, or fully remote, with specific expectations outlined by the hiring manager during the interview process. All work requirements are subject to change based on business needs and leader discretion.
