Senior Accountant - Healthcare Services

About the role

Maintains financial records and ensures proper recording of financial transactions. Assists in the preparation of financial statements and participates in the closing processes and audits. Coaches and mentors staff accountants.

Responsibilities

• Performs intermediate to advanced range of account analysis and reconciliations
• Prepares Statements of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows and other financial reports
• Applies advanced knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards, practices and procedures; assists in implementing new standards
• Assists in the establishment of accounting systems, procedures, and accounting controls
• Participates in month and year end closing process and audits
• Monitors and reviews PBCs for audits
• Supports internal and external audits with minimal oversight
• Coaches and mentors staff accountants

Requirements

• Preferred: CPA License
• Preferred: Higher Education experience
• Preferred: Banner experience
• Preferred: Fluent in Spanish or American Sign Language
• Tier I: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and either Masters in a business discipline or a CPA license
• Tier I: 5+ years accounting experience or 3+ years public accounting experience
• Tier I: Extensive accounting, analytical and problem solving skills
• Tier I: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Tier II: Masters in Accounting or a CPA license
• Tier II: 5+ years accounting experience or 3+ years public accounting experience including at least 2 years in a role with advanced responsibilities
• Tier II: Demonstrated experience leading components of month-end close or financial statement preparation
• Tier II: Previous experience in higher education or nonprofit fund accounting
