Senior Accountant - Cultivation Facility

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic cannabis operations team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly evolving industry, focusing on complex accounting tasks such as inventory costing, 280E compliance, and multi-entity compliance.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day general ledger activity for the grow facility, including journal entries, reconciliations, and a clean, on-time month-end close.
• Own accounts receivable, including invoicing, product master file maintenance, and collections.
• Drive cost accounting and manufacturing finance, managing inventory valuation, standard costing, and production cost tracking and reporting.
• Prepare financial statements, account reconciliations, and maintain accurate fixed asset schedules.
• Support year-end close, audit preparation, and compliance reporting.
• Jump in where needed, partnering with operations to understand cost drivers, improve margins, and build accounting processes that enhance reporting.
• Work closely with the operations team to support financial operations through regular check-ins, clear workflows, and strong communication.
• Partner with the AP coordinator to ensure invoices are coded and entered correctly in QBO, with an eye on detail that strengthens future reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Direct experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting.
• Solid working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
• Strong reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and month-end/year-end close experience.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reporting).
• Sharp analytical and organizational skills, with a high bar for accuracy and a genuine sense of ownership.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across a team.
• If you have familiarity with cannabis-specific financial and regulatory requirements, including 280E, and budgeting and forecasting experience in a growing business, even better.
