Senior Accountant, Audit and Business Advisory Services
About The Role
Haskell & White is one of the largest independently owned public accounting firms in Southern California, serving a diverse mix of public and private middle-market companies across industries including real estate, technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and nonprofits. Our ABAS team delivers audit and assurance services with the technical depth of a national firm and the personal attention our clients rely on. As a Senior Accountant, you will perform audit procedures in complex areas, serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, and supervise staff while continuing to build your technical expertise and professional relationships.
What You Will Do
- Perform audit procedures in complex financial statement areas including accounts receivable, revenue, inventories, debt, and equity, and prepare thorough documentation of work performed and conclusions reached.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, proactively communicating project status, challenges, and estimated completion timelines to clients and firm management.

- Supervise and manage the day-to-day execution of engagement project plans, ensuring work is completed consistently with established strategy and budget.
- Review work performed by staff, provide quality control feedback, and mentor team members on areas for improvement.
- Analyze client financial statements including required disclosures, and identify and recommend internal control, process, or operational improvements.
- Conduct accounting and auditing research using Bloomberg and other research tools, and develop knowledge in key industry areas such as SEC, real estate, life sciences, employee benefit plans, and nonprofits.
- Build relationships across other firm service offerings and model the firm's operating values with a positive, solutions-focused approach.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with an accounting emphasis
- Experience: Two or more years of audit experience at a CPA firm; active CPA license or progress toward it
- Technology: Proficiency in CCH Engagement, Bloomberg Research, ProSystem FX, Excel, Word, Teams, and Adobe
- Skills: Strong technical judgment, professional skepticism, clear communication, and a client-first mindset
What To Expect
- This role targets approximately 1,725 chargeable hours annually, with busy season weekly hours expected to reach 55.
- You will work across a variety of industries and client types, taking on greater responsibility and visibility as you grow within the firm.
