Responsibilities
- Perform accounting entries relating to but not limited to; banking, AR, AP, payroll, production, inventory daily and/or as needed.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for the company.
- Aid in month-end presentations and reports to management.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to manufacturing activities.
- Monitor and review manufacturing-related transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Book revenue and COGS monthly by project based on established methodologies.
- Enters and reconciles payroll information to the general ledger for job costing.
- Calculate and analyze product costs, including direct and indirect costs, overheads, and variances.
- Collaborate with sales and engineering to ensure customer quotes maintain agreed-upon margins.
- Collaborate with inventory management to ensure accurate valuation and reporting of inventory levels.
- Provide training on cost accounting concepts and best practices to other departments as needed.
- Provide insights into cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements within the manufacturing process.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures, identifying and explaining variances.
- Work with operational teams to align financial goals with operational objectives.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manufacturing-related financial processes.
- Work with cross-functional teams to optimize costing methodologies and reporting systems.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decisions related to product lines, production capacity, and capital investments.
- Collaborate with management to evaluate the financial impact of various manufacturing initiatives and projects.
- Mentor and assist Staff Accountant in their day-to-day responsibilities, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Collaborate with the broader finance/accounting team to ensure consistency in reporting and alignment with overall financial goals.
- Communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders to explain financial results and provide recommendations.
- Ensure tax reporting, documentation and payments are prepared timely.
- Work with external auditors to support audits and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on manufacturing or cost accounting.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Experience with manufacturing specific software is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, cost structures, and inventory management principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and modeling.
- Knowledge of relevant GAAP accounting standards.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
