Senior Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations
- Help maintain and improve month-end close processes, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled tools, and process improvements to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and accelerate the month-end close process.
- Respond to information requests and assist with the annual financial statement audit
- Analyze financial statements and GL accounts to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual fluctuations are in line with expectations and documented
- Prepare operational and ad hoc reporting for additional analysis associated with financial statement areas assigned
- Assist accounting leadership as needed
Requirements
- Taken ownership of preparing financial statement areas assigned to you (potential areas may include revenue, cost of goods sold, inventory, administrative fees, and others)
- Identified at least one opportunity to streamline an accounting process through automation, AI-enabled tools, or workflow improvements that enhance efficiency and support a faster close
- Established strong working relationships cross-functionally
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3-4 years of experience preferably with a public accounting/private accounting mix
- CPA preferred
- Experience with one or more complex areas of accounting including but not limited to revenue recognition, inventory, stock-based compensation, debt/equity financing, business combinations or investments
- Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, or advanced technology solutions to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, or close efficiency preferred
- Ability to read and analyze financial statements/reports
- Comfort with ambiguity and lack of formally defined processes
- Public company exposure preferred (either through Audit or industry background)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Comfort working in a fully remote setting
Benefits
Virta has a location-based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. For this role, the compensation range is $83,738 to $110,000.
