Who We're Looking For
The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation (LGCF) is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team!
What You'll Do
Financial Reporting & Budgeting:
- Create and manage budgets.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute financial statements including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Prepare Budget Reports, comparing actual results to budgeted figures, identifying, explaining, and correcting variances.
- Maintain financial records and prepare provisions as necessary to reflect the company’s financial position.
- Support the preparation of financial presentations for quarterly Finance Committee and annual Board of Director meetings.
- Respond to inquiries from management regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
Accounting & Month-End Closing:
- Prepare and review journal entries, month-end accruals, and inter-company transactions.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end closing in line with a timetable approved by the CFO.
- Oversee accounts payable processing, reviewing vendor invoices, getting appropriate approvals from management, and ensuring timely payment of vendors.
- Manage accounts receivable processing, reviewing customer contracts, creating invoices, and ensuring timely collection of all customer accounts.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and proper recording of financial transactions.
- Provide functional oversight and coordination of accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls.
Scholarship & Sponsorship Management:
- Maintain and update LGCF Scholarship worksheets including the Scholarships Grid, Present Value Matrix, and restricted funds.
- Track and report all scholarship pledges, unused balances, and restricted funds, ensuring proper financial control.
- Oversee and track sponsorships including scholarship sponsors, ensuring deliverables are met.
- Prepare annual Scholarship Deferral adjustments.
Audit, Tax, and Financial Support:
- Prepare all necessary information and provide support required by auditors for annual reviews and opinions.
- Review and prepare information to properly complete schedules of the annual 990 tax return.
- Ensure compliance with IRS requirements by reviewing and approving 1099 Forms.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of donation payments related to donors and sponsorships.
- Maintain configuration of Workday processes and reports for all financial modules including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Reporting, Budgeting, Cash Management and Accounting.
- Aid in other projects as needed to improve financial processes and systems within the organization.
- Collaborate with other departments and management to address special reporting needs and improve financial transparency.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's degree a plus.
- 5+ years of working experience in accounting in increasingly responsible roles.
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Portuguese a plus.
- Working knowledge of Workday highly desired but not required.
- Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to take ownership, meet deadlines, and manage up as needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills in handling diverse daily tasks.
- Willingness and availability to travel as needed for the annual Latin GRAMMY Awards show every November.
