Job Duties
- Execute month-end close procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries in JD Edwards, performing account reconciliations, and analyzing balance sheet and P&L accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Validate, value, and reconcile physical inventory for nine business units, including reviewing classified inventory files (WIP, FG NonProcessed, FG Processed) and closing the inventory period in LIMS.
- Prepare and review financial analyses and reconciliations related to inventory, procurement, freight, fixed assets, and other plant accounting areas.
- Participate in accounting system implementation or replacement projects, including attending project meetings, performing user acceptance testing (UAT), validating financial data, and providing end-user support.
- Undertake special accounting projects as assigned.
- Assist the Accounting Management team with account setup and maintenance in procurement and accounting systems and support continuous improvement initiatives related to transactional processing.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and GAAP for a robust internal control environment.
- Utilize JD Edwards, LIMS, and Weigh Wiz systems to support plant accounting, review transactional data, and resolve accounting-related issues to ensure accurate financial impact.
- Support nine recycling plants by providing accounting and financial guidance across plant accounting activities, including journal entries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, freight accruals, fixed asset accounting (lease-related asset records, additions, and disposals), inventory accounting, and internal control reporting.
- Prepare and distribute the monthly AR aging report for nine business units, track items aged over 90 days and follow up with each unit to ensure timely updates and resolution.
Requirements
- Experience applying U.S. GAAP and SOX internal control requirements in connection with month-end close, inventory accounting, and financial reporting activities.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment, supporting plant-level accounting and operational financial activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, Power Query, and complex formula-based automation for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience using ERP and financial reporting systems, including JD Edwards, Hyperion (HFM), LIMS, and Weigh Wiz, to support plant accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing and reviewing account reconciliations related to inventory, procurement, and other plant accounting accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness during month-end close.
- Experience supporting accounts receivable aging analysis, including preparing monthly AR aging reports, monitoring balances over 90 days, and coordinating follow-ups across multiple business units.
- Experience assisting with account code setup and maintenance in procurement or accounting systems to ensure proper transaction posting and classification.
